Friday 12-10-10

The cold weather is here, but the class stayed cozy on Thursday with pajama day! Congratulations to both classes for earning their third set of 15 Cardinal Cards.

This week we have been learning about the December holidays, Kwanzaa and Hannukah. The students have been learning new vocabulary words and discussing the many holidays that people celebrate.

Our sight word of the week was "and." The class has been reading the word and using it to write sentences this week.

In math, we have been mastering identifying and creating patterns. We also began using "feet" for measurement. We have discussed both nonstandard and standard feet. See the photo above for a glimpse of the students measuring the carpet using standard feet.
